Ghostshield: Siloxa-Tek 8510

Regular price $129.88 Sale

Siloxa-Tek® 8510 is an advanced, high performance, industrial strength concrete/masonry water and oil repellent solution designed to reduce water and moisture intrusion. This unique formula incorporates leading molecular nanotechnology; putting an end to water, oils, fluids and moisture migration through any porous cementitious substrate. Siloxa-Tek® 8510 is a uniquely transparent, blended formula with added enzymes and surfactants that aide in accelerating a penetrating disbursement. Thus eliciting a more effective, uniformed reaction between the formula and the concrete / masonry substrate it’s being applied to. Siloxa-Tek® 8510 provides a hydrophobic barrier beneath the surface and seals out moisture while remaining highly vapor permeable and chemically bonding with the substrate. The treated surfaces will show no change in visual appearance from application and the surface that will not chip, flake, delaminate or breakdown with UV light exposure. Natural Finish.

      Ask a Question
      • How much does 5 gallons cover in terms of square footage? My garage is 2,450 square feet

5 Gallons covers 1500 sqft single coat, or 750 sqft with two coats

      • I wanted to seal the pool deck and patio around a saltwater pool. Do you suggest 8510 or 8505?

        I would suggest the 8510

      • can you paint after you seal the concrete with 8510

The sealer will resist letting the paint adhere to the concrete so i would suggest against it.

      • can you apply after you have painted the new concrete

No,  the paint will prevent the 8510 from penetrating in to the concrete.

      • When will 1 gallon containers of 8510 be available ?

It's available now! Click the drop down on the product page.

      • What is shipping time to 98040?

        Should be 3-5 business days.

      • How long do you wait to apply after concrete is poured? How long to dry in between coats and when can you drive on it ?

28 days after the concrete is poured,  you can apply.

The coats are wet on wet,  so 5 to 10 minutes.

You can drive on it 24 hours after application

      • Which is water based. 8505 or 8510?

        8505 is water based

      • What’s the coldest temperature in which it can be applied

35 degrees Fahrenheit during application and must stay above freezing for minimum of 8 hours after application

      • Just had drive way out in last month. Has not been sealed with anything yet. Are more than one coat needed?

        Manufacturer recommends 2 coats

      • I have a new driveway with broom finish. The contractor sealed it with Diamond Clear, and suggested a recoat in the spring (7 months between initial and recoat) My driveway is a work space for oil changes and other activites. Could I go over the diamond clear with ghost shield so long as the surface is not beading water? Or do I have to strip off the diamond clear?

Your best bet would be to strip the diamond clear off to ensure a good surface for the Ghostshield

      • I used another siloxane coating about 2yrs ago ..can I put the 8510 over that??

Does water still bead up on the surface?  If so,  the 8510 won't penetrate.

      • Our concrete driveway was sealed with Rustoleum Rock Solid Lacquer 3 years ago. It is not a good sealer. Can I seal our driveway with Siloxa 8510 over the Rustoleum sealer if I wash the driveway? Thank you.

I would not suggest trying to seal over the rustoleum surface sealer with a penetrating sealer.  You need a completely bare surface so the 8510 can penetrate.

      • I have 635 sq ft concrete patio 280 sq ft of concrete pavers. I live in coastal SC and trying to figure out how many gls, best product to use for diy. Sections of pAtio and pavers are on the north side so I do get the algae on areas.

This product gets about 300 square feet per gallon, single coat.  Two coats are recommended.  You would be slightly over 6 gallons for two coats

      • is the 8500 concentrate the same product minus the water as the 8510

8505 is the closest to 8510 with the difference being water based vs. solvent based.

      • How many square footage does this cover

About 300 sqft per gallon, for one coat.

      • Is 8510 good for sealing interior walls of an outdoor, decorative fountain (in Arizona)?

Yes.  This is probably the best option on the market for sealing fountains.

      • En que colores llega siloxa tek 8510

This is a penetrating sealer so it cures clear, no color.

      • Is this product okay to use to seal a fountain to keep the concrete pot from leaking? Is this product safe for animals if they drink from the fountain after it has been treated and rise completely and the fountain is filled with water?

Absolutely. This is probably one of the best options for a fountain!  No concerns with animals as it will not flake off etc.

      • How often would this need to be reapplied to a horizontal surface?

Recommended to be reapplied every 10 years

      • #1- Do you sell concentrated Ghostshield Siloxa TEK 8500? Price? #2- What is the best densifying primer for new concrete driveway before applying. Your price?

        Yes, we do.  https://www.concreteandcurbingsource.com/collections/ghost-shield/products/ghostshield-siloxa-tek-8500

For primer , I would suggest Lithi-tek 4500.  This is a densifier hardener and is used as a primer for the 8500. https://www.concreteandcurbingsource.com/collections/ghost-shield/products/lithi-tek-4500-concrete-sealer-densifier

      • how foot cover per 5 gal container

Up to 300 sqft per gallon

Many stores sell Siloxa-Tek however most do not stock it, and charge shipping.  All purchases over $80 on our site qualify for free shipping!

      • whats the shelf life?

Approximately 3 years in unopened container

      • What is the best clear sealer product to waterproof Cultured Stone siding with some newly pointed cement ?? How long does the cement need to dry before applying the coating ?? How many coats do I need to apply for best results ??

8510 is your best bet. Concrete needs to be fully cured for best results. Two coats is recommended.

      • I have cultured stone siding on my house that is 22 years old. I have some cracks in the mortar between the stones and some stones have hairline cracks, causing the chimney to leak. What is the best sealer for me to apply to seal out leaks once the grinding and re-pointing is completed ?

You would need to seal the cracks first but the 8510 would be your best bet to seal after.

      • We had a new warehouse floor poured. It was machine troweled, about 30 days ago. We want to use the Lithitek 4500 densifier on it to strengthen, and then apply the 8510 to seal. Is there anything we need to do first, like etch or grind it? Also, will this bring a bit of a shine to it or will it still be the same dull finish?

If it was machine troweled, most likely it won't need the densifier as the surface is already dense from the machine. If you do want the densifier, you would most likely need to etch or grind the surface. The 8510 will not add shine, it is more of a natural finish

      • how is this applied with a roller a spray can or a squeegee or a mop

Typically a sprayer or roller is the preferred method.

      • Do you give veteran discount?

        Yes. 5%

      • After you clean oil from concrete and give it time to dry, will this product seal the concrete and resist the oil?

Yes, this is the best option for oil resistant sealer.

      • Using the 8510 on an exterior apron for a shop. Can I caulk the expansion joints after application, or should I do it before.

Joint compound should be applied before the sealer otherwise it may not adhere.

      • Hi. I can't find the ghost shield that leaves a wet look, which one is it.

        Cryli-Tek 5505.

      • Will the 8510 prevent iron rust stains on my walkway? I live in Florida and just poured a new walkway. Anywhere the sprinkler hits turns orange, so I would like to protect this new walkway before it does

It will make the stains easier to remove as the water won't carry the iron in to the concrete. The stain will remain on the surface.

      • Does this come colored like Paint? If not, do you have a product that is like a paint?

This is a penetrating sealer so it won't carry the pigment with it in to the concrete. Is the concrete you're looking to color interior or exterior? What type of gloss are you looking for?

      • How long to get 2 gallons shipped to 23944?

        About 2 days

      • Whats the difference between 8500 vs 8505 . both are water based, right ? We have about 800 sq ft of aggerate stone patio to cover- last done 10+ years ago, what product do you recommend . Thanks

8505 adds protection against oil stains. For an exposed aggregate patio, I would be looking at a surface sealer instead of a penetrating sealer. For example, Super Diamond Clear, Cryli-Tek 5505. There are other options as well and availability may depend on what state you are in.

      • I am pouring a stamped concrete sidewalk with colored release power. Is the 8510 ok to use, and how long do I wait after I pour to apply product?

The 8510 won't protect your color, so you would want to look at an acrylic sealer. If you can let us know what state you're in, we can make some recommendations for you.

      • I have a new steel garage and I want to clear coat/seal the new concrete. The goal being to seal from oils and other automotive chemicals. Many products mention they should not get on steel. Can you point me at a product that would work ? We can cover the steel walls and structure prior to application if required but it is still possible for some to get on steel. Thanx in advance.

This product is very easy to apply and typically won't harm any steel it comes in contact with. This is the best option for sealing again oil and other automotive chemicals.

      • Stupid question but why the different bucket container? Same product as the silver handle container right? Thanks Todd.

The silver handle containers are for 1 gal.  The buckets would be for 5gal only.

      • Can I apply Siloxa-Tek 8510 to a bear clean concrete floor straight from the bucket or do I have to apply any other product first ?

You can apply a densifier like Lithi-Tek 4500 as a primer for best results however it is not mandatory.  8510 can be used as a stand-alone product as well.

      • I have a new travertine pool deck that was sealed last year, unfortunately that sealant did not last very long and tannin stains from the surrounding oak trees are now appearing. How can I best prepare the surface for the 8510 and can a fine sand be applied to give the surface a gripping, antislip texture?

The 8510 is a penetrating sealer so it won't hold the sand. It also reacts with the concrete to seal so might not be the greatest option for the travertine. You could use a Super Diamond Clear  and with the second coat you can add Shur Grip.

      • Can I do apply the 8510 direct to concrete or should be used a densifying first?

Depends on the finish of the concrete.  If it's hard troweled,  it may not need densifier.  If it's broom finish,  you can definitely use a densifier to get a better surface and provide a better end result.

      • Used tomsons water seal seems to last 6 month after a year .l can apply 8510 ?

If the previous sealer is gone,  yes,  you can apply 8510. If it isn't gone,  chances are you can remove it with a pressure washer,  then when dry,  apply the 8510.

      • How much does 1-gallon cover?

300 square feet for one coat,  150 square feet for two coats

      • IS SILOXA-TEK 8510 WATER OR SOLVENT BASED

The 8510 is solvent based.   The 8500 and 8505 is water based.

      • I need to seal 5000 sq ft of pavers. About 1500 sq FT of it will be use as parking for my cars, so I want to use 8510 to prevent oil stain. For the rest of surface I want to use a cheaper one. What's the most apropriat as dry finish with the 8510 (so, to have the most similar finish between the two ? Thank you

8500, 8505 and 8510 all have a natural finish.  We haven't compared side by side but the 8505 should be the closest.

      • Is there a difference between 8100 and 8510 for waterproofing stucco. I hope the 8150 will do so without changing the color. Thanks

8510 will protect against oil stains where the 8100 won't.  8510 dries to a natural finish.

      • What is the coverage of a 5-gallon pail of Ghostshield Siloxa-Tek 8510 on 3-year-old concrete?

1500 square feet,  single coat.  2 coats recommended.

      • Can you use if you stain the concrete floor first?

Typically no.  For stain, you usually use a surface sealer to protect the color.  Can check out the Cryli-Tek 5505 for a Ghostshield surface sealer.

      • You recommend a densifying agentbut I don’t see this product bring sold here. What is a densifying agent anyway

The densifier is Lithi-Tek 4500. It basically makes the surface of the concrete more dense for a better surface. It also acts as a primer for the 8510.

      • Can I add color to siloxatec 8510 and, if possible, where can I get it?

Unfortunately no.  It is a penetrating sealer, so the color wont penetrate in to the concrete with the sealer.

      • We floodcoated our concrete driveway in 2017 with 8510. It’s time for a reapplication. Do we need as much as the first time or will it take less product?

Should take less,  but how much less is a guess. I would test a small area and see how much absorbs.
