            QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

            Ask a Question
            • My husband and I are planning to hide some blotches (made by cleaning our freshly laid concrete pavers of our patio) by using Ghostshield Hydro-Stain 1500 in Seal Grey - basically the exact color of the product photo. How many coats would we need to achieve that dark grey color and if we need to dilute with water for a natural look (instead of 'painted') to keep the variations of the concrete? How long to cure between coats? What sealer would we need to use once the color is achieved/cured for a natural matte finish? Thanks!

The manufacturer recommends 2 coats for next results.  The second coat can be applied after the first coat is dry.

For a matte finish,  you can look in to the Cryli-Tek 5500

            • what sealer do I use on ghostshield 1500 stain , rust color

It depends on what type of finish you're after.  Gloss,  matte, wet look.
Let us know and we can make a recommendation!

            • How do I get the mottled look?

You need to apply the stain a bit heavier in some areas to get the mottled look.

            • Does the ghostshield water base concrete stain 1500 have to be sealed? If so how long after staining and what do we use, it is a new concrete stain for a screen room.

Yes,  it should be sealed.  You can stain it as soon as it's completely dry.   What kind of sealer depends on what type of finish you want.  Gloss, matte, etc

            • Hi! I have an 30 year old porch that I power washed and was looking at the 1500 to stain after repairs were made to the concrete (fresh concrete filled holes by a concrete finisher and over the whole porch. We have water run off that has eroded the concrete. I was looking at the 1500 and maybe the cry-tek to seal but don't need a high gloss finish. it s a porch so we need safety, but something waterproof-like would be good. What could you recommend without an acid wash, and can I get the product quickly as the nice weather is waining. Thanks for your help! With gratitude, Mary

Let us know where you're located and we can let you know how long it would take to get to it. It will also let us recommend a sealer!

            • What sealer should I use over this product for a high gloss

Ghostshield 5505 would be a good fit!

            • My understanding is that on my newly poured (40 days ago) concrete garage floor and outdoor apron, I should apply this product for color and then cover with sealer. Is this correct? What sealer should I use over this product for a gloss finish that is gasoline and oil resistant?

That is correct.   Most surface sealers won't seal against gas and oil well,  but this would be your best bet for that:
              Traz-25

            • I’m trying to match the concrete up against asphalt. So want to get it as close as I can in color

Asphalt varies in color depending on your location.  Are you looking for black or a dark gray?

            • How many square ft does a quart do

              200 square feet

            • What sealer for this product

Depends on the finish (gloss, matte) and application (indoor, outdoor, garage).

            • What product do you recommend to seal the concrete after applying this water based stain?

              Indoors or outdoors?

            • Would this work on orange brick that has not been stained?

              Clay brick or concrete brick?

            • On previously stained concrete, if the surface is stripped using a grinder and then a fresh skim coat applied will the product work on the fresh concrete skim coat?

              Yes

            • Can I buy this at a store in Houston Texas?

This product is pretty new, and generally not stocked in most locations.  We can get some to you in about 3 days, or we have expedited shipping available.

            • Will this work on exterior brick that has a bit of a pink tone to it?!

I would be hesitant to use this on any sort of concrete that has been previously colored, however you can test a small area and see if you like the look!

            • How many square feet does a quart cover and can you use it on concrete pavers?

After being mixed, with 3 parts water to one part stain, you will get approximately 300 sqft per bottle.  You can use to it to color most types of concrete however i would test it on a small area to be sure its the look you are after.
